Overview

As a full-funnel measurement and verification solution, TrafficGuard enables you to track the full user journey of a user from first click, through to your website and the key actions they take during the session including any conversions.

TrafficGuard is able to track conversions on your website using our conversion snippet, which uses the same conversion ID and label from your Google Ads account. This is useful because we can match the conversion to the click on your ad and this acts as an additional data point to validate IPs.

The TrafficGuard conversion snippet is fired anytime a conversion takes place. You can track as many conversion events as you like and can choose whether to include individual events in Conversion counts and measures that appear across the product.

Pre-requisites

The TrafficGuard conversion tracking works in combination with the Site Tracker tag. You need to ensure that the Site Tracker tag is implemented on the page where your conversion takes place.

Creating conversion events

The TrafficGuard conversion snippet is created by taking the conversion event details from your Google Ads account i.e the conversion event name, values, conversion ID and label.

To create a conversion snippet follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Account details > Tracked Conversions > Conversion Events and click on Add New. Note: If the account belongs to an Account Group you will need to create the snippet at the Account Group level.

  2. Conversion event info

    1. For Account Groups, choose the property/properties you would like to create a conversion snippet for.

    2. For an Account only, you need only to enter the conversion event information.

    3. The conversion event name is the same as it appears in your Google Ads account. i.e. registration, purchase, lead etc.

    4. Enter your transaction ID if you have one, if not leave it blank.

  3. Conversion value

    1. Choose the value option which matches the conversion event in Google Ads.

  4. Count

    1. Select how many conversions to count per click or interaction.

    2. Select whether to include the event in Conversion counts and measures across the product. For example, you many choose to track 'Login' events, but not include this event as part of Conversion counts or Cost per Conversion calculations.

  5. Limits

    1. Choose the maximum numbers of days after an ad interaction that you want to count conversions. We recommend this is generally set to 30 days.

  6. Google Ads conversion info

    1. Enter you Google Ads conversion ID and your Google Ads conversion label. If you don't have a Google Ads conversion ID and your Google Ads conversion label you should leave the space blank.

  7. Ensure all the information you enter matches what you have on Google Ads.

  8. Save settings and copy the conversion snippet which is generated.

You are now ready to implement your conversion snippet. Please see How do I implement the conversion snippet on GTM.

Once the conversion events are implemented, you can monitor these in Conversion events.
