TrafficGuard analyses the events associated with a journey that lead to a conversion.

The result of the analysis is to determine if the conversion is valid or invalid. However, there are situations TrafficGuard cannot definitively conclude if the conversion is either valid or invalid, and is classed in the 'Suspicious' category.

Here is the definition of the three final conversion classification types for customer-facing documentation:

Conversion Status

Description

Valid

The conversion passed all fraud and non-compliance checks. No invalid or suspicious activity was detected in the journey, and it is valid to pay this affiliate a commission.

Invalid (High Confidence)

The conversion is confidently classified as fraud or non-incremental. This status is assigned only when the paid affiliate was directly involved in a high-risk activity (the segment) AND the conversion's overall risk score confirms a high-risk level.

Suspicious (Low Confidence)

The conversion is flagged as problematic but does not meet the strict criteria for full invalidation. This can happen for one of three reasons:

Attribution Failure: A high-risk activity was detected in the journey, but the affiliate being paid was not directly involved.

Low-Confidence Activity: The affiliate was involved in a rule that is only a "red flag" (e.g., Brand Bidding) but not definitive fraud.

Low-Risk Score: The conversion was flagged by a segment rule, but the overall risk score was extremely low (in the bottom 5% of all flagged conversions), leading to a precautionary downgrade.
