A social account can be in one of 3 states depending on a number of setup factors. These states determine when an account can be moved to Prevention.
Connected
Connected means that the account is fully setup and running to detect and prevent invalid traffic.
Specifically for an account to be Connected it must:
Have its Portfolio currently connected and access granted between Facebook and TrafficGuard
Access to all relevant FB pages granted and URL parameters appended to all applicable ad sets
The TG Site tag must be present on the account's Property and successfully recording events
The Facebook Custom Audience Terms of Service must be accepted by the user.
If any of the above are not true the status will not be Connected.
Important
There are additional factors to consider if an account is successfully detecting and preventing that are not currently automated.
An account's custom event must be approved - without this we cannot populate the custom audience. Please confirm the user has approved the event in Meta before moving an account from Detection to Prevention.
βAn account's custom audience needs to be populating with invalid users - we cannot currently confirm when this is happening and so this cannot be automated. Please check with Engineering if you suspect there is a problem with the exclusion audience populating and after confirming the custom event has been approved.
Setup Incomplete
Setup Incomplete means that the account is connected to Meta and may be detecting invalid traffic but will not be able to prevent or fully detect specifically due to:
Permissions to a relevant Facebook Page withdrawn (this means we cannot detect or prevent on any ads associated with the Page)
The Meta custom audience Terms of Service has not been accepted (this means we cannot create an exclusions audience necessary for Prevention)
The TG site tag is not successfully recording events (this means we cannot invalidate users)
Important
An account cannot be switched to Prevention when the status is "Setup Incomplete". This is to ensure that we do not unnecessarily cause relearning when the full value of TrafficGuard cannot yet be realised. Relearning will be caused the first time the account transitions to Prevention and the custom audience list is attached to the relevant ad sets. If we cannot prevent due to an issue listed here then we do not want to attach the audience list until the problem is rectified.
Not Connected
Not Connected means that the account is not successfully connected to Meta. It can occur when:
There is a failure in the Meta connection; for example, this could be caused by invalid credentials. Please contact Engineering if you suspect this issue.
Permission to the Meta Ad account has been withdrawn (a user can remove permissions within Meta and during a reconnection within TrafficGuard).
The entire Portfolio connection is removed (a user can remove TrafficGuard as a Partner within Meta and the user can also click to 'Disconnect' the Portfolio within TrafficGuard Manage Connections.)
